About Woadie’s South East Seafood
Located in Skagway, AK, Woadie’s South East Seafoods is a locally loved restaurant serving freshly caught Alaskan seafood, including salmon, halibut, shrimp, Dungeness crab, Alaskan King Crab, and oysters.
Kyle Rush purchased the business in 2017 and has since dedicated himself to rebuilding and growing Woadie’s. He focuses on cultivating an enriching culture for his team and a system based on efficiency, which allows Woadie’s to provide high-quality local products at a rate that all visitors can afford and an authentic Alaskan experience.
Kyle first operated from a food truck with an outdoor patio and a wedding tent seating up to 78 guests. With the help of Doland Construction of Skagway and Gomi’s Garden of Haines, he expanded the business by building a full kitchen and an open timber-frame Douglas gazebo and patio, surrounded by a beautiful garden in downtown Skagway—offering a fresh-air Alaskan experience.
This expansion provided Woadie’s with the tools and stability to now seat over 100 guests, improve the quality of its product, cut consumables by 95%, increase jobs by 400%, and work directly with 10 more small regional businesses.
AGC Services Provided
In 2022, AGC supported Woadie’s South East Seafoods with two SBA loans. The first loan funded the construction of the new kitchen and expanded seating area, while the second provided capital for final construction costs, new kitchen equipment, and additional working capital. These investments have enabled Woadie’s to grow sustainably and continue serving the Skagway community and visitors with an unparalleled seafood experience.
“I’ll always be grateful for Alaska Growth Capital (AGC) and their team. As a young entrepreneur with few assets—especially during COVID—I struggled to find lenders with confidence in me. AGC didn’t just step up; they worked tirelessly to find the perfect loan for Woadie’s and saw it through from start to finish. Years later, their end-of-year check-ins are still a highlight, celebrating how far we’ve come together.”
